About Womyn’s Ways

Womyn's Ways was founded in Portland by Christine D'Esposito in 2004.

Christine is a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula and Birthing From Within childbirth educator. She first became interested in birth and postpartum support after attending a close friend’s birth. The experience allowed her to witness, first-hand, the wonder of the mother-baby bond and the value of outside support.

Christine believes that the pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey holds the capacity to be an empowering and transformative experience for everyone involved. Her goal as a doula and childbirth mentor is to validate and celebrate each parent’s experience as she helps facilitate their own self-discovery.

Christine has had the opportunity to serve hundreds of families in the Portland area since 2003. She believes in a persons natural ability to give birth and does not believe there is one right way to do it. She is comfortable with birth in all settings and has experience with hospital birth, home birth, birth centers and water birth.

Outside of birth work, Christine loves learning and immersing herself in  wellness, nutrition, human development, community building and cross cultural ceremony. In her free time she enjoys gardening, spending time in nature with her dogs, singing, drumming, cooking delicious food and being an Auntie.

Womyn’s Ways refers to the collective intuition and knowledge that has been passed down over centuries and that is available for us to tap into whenever we need.

I believe in a woman’s natural ability to give birth, in any way that is right for her. I believe that birth can be an empowering and transformative experience for everyone involved, even if things don’t go according to plan. My goal as a doula and childbirth mentor is to validate and celebrate each parent’s experience and self-discovery.

This intuition comes out in all sorts of ways from care-taking to practical resourcefulness and it is the same knowing that will help you birth your baby.

Your knowing comes from a place deep down inside of you. It is from this place within you that your Deepest Question arises. What is it that YOU need to know to give birth? What is it that you already KNOW?  Birth happens in the body-mind, the creative and intuitive part of yourself, not from the mind of logic and reason.

In today’s fast-paced world built on reason and logic we are often over-stimulated with left brain, logical tasks and reasoning. Sometimes it feels difficult to access that internal and reflective part of our selves.

I invite you to sink deeper into your body mind as part of your preparation for your journey. From this place a sense of trust and confidence arises in yourself as a parent that you will embrace in your birth process and the many years of parenting to come.
